Student Life gig...

Hey,
I don't know if anyone ever looks at our blog except when we are over seas or not, but just in case.... I am sitting up in bed while Britt is snoozing. For some reason, I am not sleepy right now. We are at Shocco Springs in Talladega, AL. We will be here until Sunday afternoon. After they play Sunday morning, we will be leaving here and going to Panama City for more gigging. The band has sounded very good so far. They have a very full sound this time, because they have two guitar players. The speaker has been very good also. He is from South Carolina....I think. His name is Chad Norris. The food has been not so great this time. I hope it will get better tomorrow. After tonight's service, we went to a mexican restaurant. There were some pretty interesting conversations while we ate. They were discussing the country's status and other fun topics.. Campbell and Riley arrived on the scene this evening and they had us laughing and acting silly. They are fun to watch and listen to. Ok, I am finally starting to get sleepy..I might should take advantage of my sluggishness and hit the hay. I may try to do some more blogging as the days roll on.
Keep seeking Him!

Packing up

Hey everyone,
Hope you are all doing well. We are quite tired and still have to pack, so I won't be long tonight. Just wanted to fill you in on how today went. We started out the day paying for our stay in the hotel and it took a while to get all of that settled. Then, we were able to walk around the town a bit and see some of their shops. Britt and I didn't really "shop" as we have done on trips before. We thought we would be able to do some of that tonight, but did not. After lunch, we went to Ziza's house. She was the older believer that was at all of the meetings throughout the week. This was one of the greatest things we were able to do on this trip. We will go into more detail about this when we return. The Flippin's neighbor Violeta prepared dinner for us this evening and debriefed. We are leaving the hotel tomorrow morning at 5 am. I have to go now and start helping Britt pack everything. Thanks again for making this trip possible. We hope you can attend our presentation of the trip. I will try to send out an email to let you all know when it will be. Pray for our trip home and we hope to see you all soon! Love you all!

Sorry

Hello,

Sorry I was unable to blog last night. Debi, Rachel and I had a lengthy conversation and I needed to go straight to bed. Although, I don't think I went to sleep until about 5 this morning. We had a wonderful time yesterday. We went to a neighboring city about 1 hour away and had another time of fellowship with that group. Lots of serb/english praise and worship and sharing. We also put up fliers all over the center of their town to let the people know about a new ministry they are about to start there. It is a conversational english meeting. So we will be praying for the Lord to use that to open doors there. After our time with them we went to one of our translators homes for another bible study. She is a precious person and I hope we were able to encourage her in her walk with Lord. We are about to leave, so I have to make this one short. We are going to do a little shopping this morning and then we are going to have one more meeting in a home. It is of an older lady who has been with us at every meeting this week. She is a wonderful lady who dearly loves the Lord. She has been a follower of Jesus for a long time. I am looking forward to that time with her. Ok, well hope everyone has a good day!

Another great day in Cacak

Hey everyone,
Well we are back in our rooms once again, tired and ready to crash! We were able to do a little sharing with people in the park this morning. We had a few people seem to be interested in what we had to say and hope that they will come to know the Lord from the seed planted. In the afternoon we went to a big field and played softball with some of the local believers who want to form a team. We got ran off by rain and lightening, but not before we had lots of fun! I was able to share some drills with the lady who will be in charge of the team, as well as help teach them how to bat. I think they were very thankful for the equipment and help! This evening, we went to a camp and had a fellowship with some of the other team members and some serb believers from other towns. We all ate together and they sang lots of songs in Serbian. We sang a couple of songs in English right before we left. We also listened to several testimonies. It was a fantastic meeting of believers! There were lots of mosquitoes, but that didn't seem to hinder the time of fellowship. The missionaries here seem to be excited about the work we have been doing this week. The Lord has been so faithful in every way! I hope you have been blessed today and also, that you will continue to remember us as you pray. Thank you Terri and Faith for your comments they were such a great blessing to us!! It always means so much to hear from folks back home who are praying. And it is fun to hear that you are actually reading this stuff I manage to spill out each night while I still have a half a brain left.
God Bless!

Tuesday in Cacak

Hello to all!
Another day almost gone in Serbia and you guys are still at work..lol Sorry! We are back in our rooms for the night. Another eventful day had by all here. I did not get very much sleep at all last night. Not sure why, since Britt slept like a baby. Cedric and Debbie did not sleep much at all either, but there was a party outside their rooms until day break this morning. Hopefully, we will all be able to rest better tonight. I am really sorry that I haven't been able to post pictures. I will continue to try to get with Rachel and use some of theirs soon.
We started our day out by doing some trash pickup alongside some of the streets around town. We were able to sit down with an older gentlemen at a little cafe and share a little of why we are here and what we believe. We gave him a book in the Serbian language about Jesus, because he said that he already had a bible. We also left him a couple of our testimony cards with the missionary's (Neal) phone number on the back incase he wanted to call and talk. But then he offered Neal his card. So now, Neal said that he would get intouch with him later and invite him over for dinner to talk more about Christ. Neal said that was definitely a divine appointment, because he hardly ever meets an older man that is able to speak enough English so he can really share with them. So Praise the Lord for His mighty works!! After we finished with the trash pickup, we went to the Flippin's house to eat lunch. It was wonderful. Sandwiches...almost American tasting. They also fed supper to us tonight and it was great too. After lunch we visited the Orthodox church here in Cacak. I almost just don't know what to say about this place. I think we were all in awe of the heavy feeling we got as we entered. It was amazing to see, but then to watch these poor people come in and pray to these "saints" and put their money in a box and call that prayer...wow. We have learned alot about their traditions and beliefs and it has weighed heavy on all of us. We will spend some time in detail on their religion when we get back. Tonight, we had the bible study for the ladies. It went well. They just seem to really enjoy their time with us alot. Britt was able to change the strings on the guitar that belongs to the Flippin's son. Their boys Wyatt and Dylan are really warming up to us and really like
Britt alot. He has spent a lot of time with them today. While the women were in the bible study, the guys all went to the park and played ball. The older ones wanted to go and get ice cream, but Dylan said that it was just to sissy for all the guys to go get ice cream together. He is really funny and they are both very smart. Ok...I have written a book. I didn't intend to, but just wanted to share about all the things we did. Check in again tomorrow and maybe it won't be as long! :) Good night to everyone.

First Meeting with the Believers

Hello everyone!

Hope you are all enjoying your Memorial Day! We have had a great first day among the Serbs. We started our day down stairs with breakfast and orientation. Britt tried some filtered coffee at breakfast and said it tasted like parking lot water with salt and pepper in it...?? I don't know. Then one of the missionaries Matt, ordered him a turkish coffee. He said it was much better. After breakfast we gathered in Mark and Rachel's room for a devotion and prayer time. It was a wonderful time with the Lord and with each other. We then went to the supermarket to get some more bottled water. It was neat to see the grocery store in the middle of what looked like one of their inside malls. Britt and I have noticed several things that reminded us of Brazil. They eat alot of cheeses and breads here, to name a couple. But as at home a lot of the vegetables and fruits are fresh now and so we are looking forward to enjoying some of those. Today was a meat eating day... First Britt and I stopped at the chicken stand we ate at the day before and decided to try a burger...not good. So we tried a hot dog...even worse! And then for supper we all ate at a place the missionaries call the Log Cabin. It is a more expensive place. For 8 adults and 2 children it was 7,260 Dinar (their money) sounds like alot huh? Well, that is only about $107 USD. And we tried several types of smoked meats. They were all mostly pork and very salty. Today we did some prayer walking around Cacak. It was interesting to watch the people watching us as we walked by. And tonight, we went to our first home bible study. The guys led this study of "Why we witness". There were 4 ladies and 1 man all from Cacak who attended. They seemed to enjoy the study and definitely enjoyed meeting other believers. We hope that the scriptures we shared will boost them into sharing their new faith. Most people do not have air conditioning here, and it is probably around 90 degrees here. We are pretty tired again tonight and are about to crash. We haven't taken a lot of pictures yet. Mark has taken many and Cedric took alot today, so I will see about putting some of theirs on here tomorrow. Tomorrow, we will be doing some servanthood work around the community. Pray that the Lord will open doors to share the gospel through this work. Also, tomorrow night, the ladies will be sharing with the lady serbs in a bible study of what living out the christian life looks like. So, be in prayer about that as well. Thank you for all you've done already!
